The VISION of the New York State Granges

Responding to the needs and issues of local areas.
The Grange is:
An Initiator of community action, the Granges are found in communities throughout New York State.
Many own their own meeting hall which provides a center for community activities as well.
Granges cooperate with area groups to improve the quality of life for all citizens.
They often take the lead in initiating and carrying out projects.

A Facilitator of leadership development, Leadership development is a priority in the Grange.
The New York State Grange Institute For Leadership Development teaches participants to be strong effective leaders
in the Grange and in other aspects of their lives.
Within the Grange there are many opportunities to lead and to be well lead.

An Advocate for families including the non-traditional, the Grange welcomes all types of families.
For the individual it often becomes an extended family. The Grange is multigenerational allowing
full membership at age 13 1/2. This gives young people unique opportunities to
interact with older people. Special activities also provide youth with social and skill building opportunities.
Programs and events are also designed to meet the interests of women. The entire family is welcome.
Junior Grange is a club designed to meet the needs and interests of children ages 5-14.

A Trusted Conveyor of rural and community needs to legislators and policy makers, the Grange has a strong voice
with government at all levels. We are respected as a non-partisan voice of the people especially
in matters affecting rural America. These issues address concerns of
production agriculture, the environment, health care and fiscal responsibility. Because Grange membership
encompasses active farmers, those living in rural areas and small communities, those with young families
and those retired, our policies reflect the concerns of many.
